Singapore is one of the most-applied tourist visas from South India — and one of the most paperwork-heavy. Get the file wrong and your application can sit in "under processing" for weeks before being rejected for an avoidable reason. This 2026-updated checklist walks through every single document the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) expects from an Indian passport holder, what the photo specs really mean, and the financial documents that quietly decide your approval.

At Aleef Travel, we've processed Singapore visas from Chennai for almost three decades. The list below reflects what works today, not what worked five years ago.

The non-negotiable documents

  • Original passport with at least 6 months validity from your intended return date, and at least 2 blank facing pages
  • Two passport-size photographs — 35×45 mm, white background, matte finish, taken within the last 3 months
  • Visa application form (Form 14A) — filled and signed
  • Letter of introduction (LOI) from a Singapore resident OR Aleef Travel as your authorised travel agent
  • Cover letter explaining purpose of visit, dates, and itinerary

Financial documents (this is what gets you approved)

ICA is unusually strict about financial intent. The pattern they look for:

  • Bank statements — last 6 months, stamped and signed by the bank. Closing balance should comfortably cover your trip cost (typically ₹1.5L+ for a 5-day Singapore trip).
  • Income Tax Returns — last 3 years, including the latest assessment year
  • Salary slips — last 3 months if employed
  • Form 16 from your employer
  • For business owners: GST certificate, business registration, and last year's P&L

Travel-specific documents

  • Confirmed return flight booking (Chennai or any Indian airport ↔ Singapore)
  • Hotel booking confirmation for every night of your stay
  • Day-wise itinerary (Aleef provides this with package bookings)
  • Travel insurance — not mandatory but strongly recommended

Employment / business documents

For salaried applicants:

  • Leave letter from your employer on company letterhead
  • Latest visiting card
  • Offer letter / employment letter if recently joined

For self-employed / business owners:

  • Company registration certificate
  • GST registration and recent returns
  • Cover letter on business letterhead explaining purpose of travel

Photo specifications — read this twice

This is where most DIY applications get rejected. ICA expects:

  • Size: 35 mm × 45 mm (not the Indian standard 35×35)
  • Background: pure white, not off-white or cream
  • Face occupies ~80% of the photo
  • No glasses, no headcover (except religious — and even then, full face must be visible)
  • Neutral expression, mouth closed
  • Taken within the last 3 months — older photos can be rejected
