Hajj Packages
from Chennai.
Who is eligible, which route applies to you, what documents you need and how the days of Hajj unfold — written plainly for Chennai pilgrims by an agency that has been arranging Makkah travel since 1998.
What Shapes the Cost.
Hajj cost is not a single figure. Pilgrims travelling on the Haj Committee of India quota pay the rate notified by the Ministry of Minority Affairs for that season, which is published once and is final. Pilgrims travelling through a registered Haj Group Organiser pay that organiser's own package rate, which varies widely with hotel distance, tent category and duration.
Because both figures are set season by season and move with airfare and the Saudi Riyal, we do not publish an estimate. What we do instead: check your eligibility, tell you which route applies to you, and put the actual notified or quoted figure in front of you in writing — with the exclusions listed — before you commit to anything or pay a rupee.
What drives the cost
- Distance of your Makkah hotel from the Haram — the single biggest cost factor
- Tent category and air-conditioning at Mina
- Direct Chennai–Jeddah flight versus a connecting routing
- Duration — short packages of 20–25 days cost less than 35–40 day packages
- Room occupancy — quad and sextuple sharing versus double
- The Saudi Riyal rate on the day of remittance
Which Path Applies to You.
Haj Committee of India
The government route, under the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Applications are filed on the Haj Suvidha portal and routed through the Tamil Nadu State Haj Committee. Selection is by category and, where applications exceed the state's share, by draw.
- Lowest cost of the two routes
- Notified, transparent pricing
- Reserved categories for 70+ applicants and Lady Without Mahram
- Accommodation and Mina tents allotted by the Committee
- Application window is short — usually Sep to Dec
Registered Haj Group Organiser
Private operators registered with the Ministry of Minority Affairs, allocated a share of India's quota. Suited to pilgrims who need shorter walking distances, a specific departure window, or family members accommodated together.
- Choice of hotel distance and room occupancy
- Shorter or longer duration options
- Families and elderly pilgrims kept together
- Higher cost than the Committee route
- Verify the organiser's current registration before paying
Aleef Travel is your Chennai point of contact on either route. We assess eligibility, prepare documentation, handle flights, Saudi Riyal and insurance, and — where an HGO is required — introduce you only to organisers whose Ministry registration we have verified for the current season.

The Days of Hajj, in Order.
Hajj falls on fixed dates in Dhul Hijjah and cannot be moved. Knowing the sequence before you leave Chennai makes the days themselves far less disorienting.
8 Dhul Hijjah — Mina
Pilgrims enter the state of Ihram and move from Makkah to the tent city at Mina, where they pray and rest. This is the day walking stamina starts to matter.
9 Dhul Hijjah — Arafat
The day of Arafat, the essential act of Hajj. Pilgrims stand in supplication from midday until sunset on the plain of Arafat, then move to Muzdalifah after sunset to spend the night in the open and collect pebbles.
10 Dhul Hijjah — Eid al-Adha
Return to Mina for the stoning of the largest pillar, the sacrifice, shaving or trimming of the hair, and Tawaf al-Ifadah at the Haram in Makkah.
11 to 13 Dhul Hijjah
The remaining days at Mina, with stoning of all three pillars each afternoon. Pilgrims then return to Makkah for the farewell Tawaf before departure.
What Chennai pilgrims most often underestimate
Walking distance. Between Mina, Arafat and the Jamarat, a pilgrim covers many kilometres a day on foot, in dry heat far higher than Chennai's, with limited shade. Hotel distance from the Haram and tent location at Mina are not luxuries — for anyone over 60 or with knee, cardiac or diabetic conditions, they determine whether the rites are performed comfortably. We size the package to the pilgrim's actual fitness, not to the budget alone, and we say so plainly when a cheaper category is the wrong choice.
